What Do You See?

Imagine for a moment that you’ve conquered your mission to obtain more balance in your life. Imagine what that will be like when it comes more naturally to you. Imagine when you know that you’ve done enough for others, you completed enough work, and you’ve given God ample time in your life. What does that look like? What do you see?

Can you actually visualize the more balanced life in your future? If you can’t see it then you can’t SEIZE it. You must have had some kind of image if you asked for this to be a part of your lesson.

I’m asking you to:

  • think about it

  • pray about it

  • meditate on it

  • describe it

  • journal about it

  • Act on it

  • wait on it

  • SEIZE it

I believe that’s more than enough for you to work through today. Sometimes we walk around with an idea but not a full image of what we hope for. let me ask you something important. If you don’t have an idea or an image, then what are you really asking God for? Work on that.

I have news for you. Your image will be better then you’re imagining. It is kind of like having a black and white image of the future, but God produces it in full color. It will be even more detailed and more spectacular than you EVER imagined, when and if you involve God. Ask Him to give you an image of what a balanced life looks like.Tell me about it. What do you see?

CONTROL AND DISCIPLINE FOR BALANCE

Today’s lesson under Developing Space/Relationship With God was about self-control/self-discipline. How do you think self-control/self-discipline will affect your desire to have more balance in your life?

Let’s say that there are nine things on your list that you want to develop more balance. Some of them may be daily accomplishments and others may be weekly or monthly. How do you believe that self-control/self-discipline can impact your ability to balance all nine of these items well?

When we turned 18 we became young adults. If you were anything like me, I couldn’t wait for my 18th birthday. I couldn’t wait to make up my own rules. I thought I could do whatever I want it. I believed that life started at 18.

I didn’t realize that in every setting there were all types of rules that were there to keep me in check. When I went away to school I had rules on campus. When I got my first job there were rules at work. When I got married there were rules in our relationship. So really not much changed.

There was always rules and self-control/self-discipline were still necessary. I’m still maintaining an enormous amount of self-control/self-discipline. The problem is that we don’t have anybody to stand over us and tell us to get up and read your Bible. We don’t have anyone to tell us that we need to go find a job. We don’t have anyone to tell us to monitor our spending. We have to have some semblance of self-control/self-discipline. Tell me how self-control can influence your ability to have more balance in your life no matter if it’s 9 or 90 items to balance.
