Witness For Christ

Everyday we pass up opportunities to share God’s love with the world.

Have you ever been around someone when God made it clear that He was present? Did they speak and your soul felt full because you knew God was using them to speak directly to you? How did they know? The room felt full of God’s ambiance and there was no doubt that you were in the presence of God. There are close encounters that leave us mesmerized by God’s presence.

Let me tell you about one of mine. I was serving as a deacon at the time and several of us traveled to Detroit to support our pastor. He preached annually for this Detroit pastor’s anniversary. I went in full uniform as did the others. Three of us were standing in line to be fed after service and a gentleman from the church approached us from across the room. As he opened his mouth, he was looking right at me. I thought he may be trying to say a flirty word or two, but what he said shocked me and left me with my mouth wide open.

He asked if the diaconate was “the step towards priesthood.” We told him, “For some.” After glancing at the others, he looked right back at me and said, “But you will preach!” He then walked away. That was it! I was stunned, because it hadn’t crossed my mind before. However, what he said that day connected with me instantly and I knew it came straight from God. I felt God’s presence. He was undeniable.

My question to you is have you ever felt God’s presence in someone else? Likewise, has anyone else ever felt God’s presence in you? God can use anyone or anything, even the rocks, at any time and at any place He chooses (even if there is no relationship with God). However, the more we know his Word the more we connect with God. The more we dedicate our lives to Witness For Christ the more God will use us. I find that it doesn’t always happen when we have a pre-meditated agenda to be a blessing to others. When we love God and sincerely love God’s people it often happens when we least expect. I can’t tell you the times when complete strangers needed to hear from God and God decided to use me to encourage and uplift them. Every time they make me aware it overwhelms me. Trust me, it’s not me at all. I cannot take the credit. I give it ALL to God…
