The Way You Do The Things You Do

We talked about how jealous God is and I believe we can agree that since He created us in His own image that God has every reason to feel that way. Aside from that, if for no other reason God gets to be jealous because He’s God all by himself. He’s omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient and eternal, none of which any of us can ever claim legitimately.

Well, since we know God is jealous I think we ought to give him the attention he so lovingly deserves. Taking time out of our busy lives for God and developing a more intimate relationship with God makes sense. Even more than that, both are signs of true faith.

One of the reasons why I created the password you used for this session is because God is “Love.” It’s out of love that God created humanity. It’s out of love that he granted us life. It’s out of love that God sent Jesus to be our personal savior so that we might have eternal life. Nobody else can do that for us, not a soul! If we look up “love” in any dictionary it should have an image of God and a definition that includes God. His unconditional love for us is priceless, yet that price was paid over 2000 years ago. No debt could ever be so high that His sacrifice hasn’t covered it! Not even sin.

So, let me ask you an important question. How is it that we only think of that ultimate love on Sundays or maybe at meal time? Why isn’t it one of the most prevailing thoughts we have on a daily basis? Why isn’t it the very thing that supersedes everything else in our lives at all times. Yes, we are living here on earth and of course we have quite a bit to contend with, BUT from the beginning to end, the Alpha and Omega, God is the reason, the purpose, the answer, and everything in between. The answer is always God or with God or because of God.

When we figure out our purpose, on behalf of God, it’s easier to proceed, to move forward with God and to take time out for God. Let me tell you a little secret. I do this very thing, empower the people around me, because all I want to do is praise God. The more I share how amazing God is the more I fulfill my God-given purpose. Every one of us has to find a way to praise God day-in and day-out. Taking time to praise God in the things we do is one way to spend more time with God and develop a closer relationship with God.

Figure out what you are good at and include God in every aspect of it. That’s one way to give Him all the praise. It’s also a great way to stay out of trouble. After while, the people around you will begin to feel like they’ve encounter God. When God becomes a part of everything you do your love for God oozes out of every pore, even when His name isn’t mentioned. I don’t care if you are cleaning floors for a living. The way you clean them, how you train others to clean them and how well they look will start to change once you begin to do them to glorify God. There are no little jobs and big jobs in the kingdom. Some may set apart for a particular purpose, but they all make us stewards of His kingdom. Whistle that tune when you know that above all others you are working to take care of the things and the people of God. Never mind that boss of yours. If you do what you do for God, you’ll take care of the boss but more importantly God. Do what you do for God, with the excellence of God, and God will always be on your mind and in your heart.
