Message:

A.C.T.S.

Part of developing a relationship with God requires that we spend time in prayer with God. Prayer is the way that we connect with God, speak to God, and develop a relationship with God. We are so blessed to have an avenue to go before God when we are thankful, concerned, or anything else.

It is so important that we get comfortable spending time with God. When I first start serving the church our pastor taught us about A.C.T.S. My initial role was deacon. We were required to pray in front of the church, at deacon board meetings, bible study, visiting the sick and shut in and so on. Therefore we had to be OK with praying publicly.

Our pastor taught us to use this acronym. A.C.T.S. when we were praying to help guides us.

A - is for adoration. Here is the moment when you give God all the glory. This is the time when we tell him how amazing H really is. This is the time when we tell God how spectacular we believe he is to us.

C - is for confession. I think this one is self-explanatory. This is the time when we confess our sins and I shortcomings. It may be helpful to repent here also. Please don’t forget that repentance requires that we ask for forgiveness AND turn away from our sinful behavior.

T - is for Thanksgiving. Having an attitude of gratitude will take you far. Tell God how thankful we are for all of His many blessings. We should be able to name many of these while we’re praying. It’s probably even important to consider the struggles as joy. The word says count it all joy.

S - is for supplication. This is the time we get to tell God our concerns on the behalf of others. We should never pray selfishly. We should always pray for others. We should always lift up the people around us AND the stranger.

Tell me about your prayers? How comfortable are you in prayer?
